Basil (Ocimum Basilicum) can be relaxing to muscles, including smooth muscles (those not subject to our voluntary control, such as the heart and digestive system). Cedarwood (Cedrus Atlantica) historically is recognized for its calming, purifying properties and is used to benefit the skin and tissues near the surface of the skin. Chamomile (Roman) (Chamaemelum Nobile) may help calm and relieve restlessness and tension. Its anti-infectious properties benefit cuts, scrapes, and bruises. It is used extensively in Europe for the skin.   Chamomile is still extremely useful in the treatment of many women's problems such as dysmenorrhea,  premenstrual tension, and cystitis.  Chamomile baths and rubs can help avoid the buildup of fluid before a period. Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum Verum) is one of the most antimicrobial essential oils. It has been produced in Sri-Lanka for over 2,000 years. J. C. Lapraz, M.D. found that viruses could not live in the presence of cinnamon oil. Because of its high phenol content, it is best diluted (1 drop to 40 or 50 drops of V-6 Mixing Oil or vegetable oil) before applying on the skin. Elemi (Canarium Iuzonicum) History: Known as Canarium Iuzonicum, this essential oil is distilled from the gum of a tree originating from the Philippines. Elemi has been used in Europe for hundreds of years in salves for skin, forming the bases of the celebrated healing ointments such as baumeparalytique. A 17th century physician, J.J. Wecker, used elemi on the battle wounds of soldiers. Uses: Elemi belonged to the same botanical family as frankincense and myrrh (Burseraceae). Thyme Linalol (Thymus Vulgaris Linalol CT) is less irritating to the skin and mucus membranes than regular Thyme essential oil, while exerting powerful anti-infectious and antimicrobial effects. Why?
